Principles for Working with Generative AI in the Rolling Association
- We recognize the potential of AI tools throughout the process of creating and running larps. At the same time, we are aware of the ethical issues associated with them — questions of copyright and its infringement by generative AI, environmental impact, and economic and social consequences. We do not take these issues lightly. Transparency toward players and co-creators is equally important to us.
- We value human creativity and prioritize human-made work. However, we do not renounce the use of AI tools, especially for administrative tasks.
- We commit to transparently informing about the use of AI in individual projects. All AI outputs are always reviewed and approved by a human, who bears responsibility for them.
- We further distinguish between creative and non-creative uses of AI. In this context, we do not consider the following to be creative work:
- proofreading
- automated sending of emails, payment verification, and so on
- software development for a game
- photo editing tools
- The manner and extent of AI use for creative work will always be stated on the websites of individual games no later than the start of registration. By creative work, we mean:
- creating illustrations, graphics, and audiovisual content
- creating key game content such as plots, characters, player groups, or workshops
- creating accompanying game texts essential to the game’s content
- translating texts such as characters or design documents
- creating promotional posts and graphics for social media
